Our trip back to Brooklyn

November 1999

We traveled across the Throggs Neck Bridge to visit the site of my Mom & Dad's first home in Brooklyn.

This is the house in which I grew up on Greenwood Avenue. Pop, Tricia, Casey and me visited the old neighborhood in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn. Everything seemed so much smaller than I remember...and Prospect Park so much closer. The Brooks family on the corner, crazy Mrs. Hamm yelling at everyone as they passed, skating on a frozen patio next door...Prenner's Grocery Store is gone now, but I can still remember straining just to see in the display case of the deli. Somehow, I don't remember it ever being this bleak.
